What is Acre Gold?

Is Acre Gold Legit website homepage

Acre Gold is a company that provides an opportunity for clients to acquire gold in a more affordable way compared to the usual firms out there.

It was created by a group of fintech veterans and goldbugs, who recognize the importance and benefits of gold. With that, they aim to make this precious metal more affordable and approachable.

Currently, Acre Gold is based out of Santa Monica, CA and Boise, ID.

How Does Acre Gold Work?

Is Acre Gold Legit How It Works

Acre Gold works differently from the other precious metals firms we have reviewed such as Goldco, which helps you transfer precious metals to a new gold IRA account once you've funded your account.

However, Acre Gold is more of a layaway program.

Basically, you pay a subscription fee every month. Once you have accumulated enough payments to meet the price of the gold (minus the shipping and fulfilment fees) Acre Gold will then ship and deliver said gold directly to your front door!

So, it's basically like you're making your payments for the gold every month. This can go on and on, meaning you can receive more 2.5-gram gold deliveries. If you want to stop, you can always cancel the subscription.

To join Acre Gold, you have to pay a one-time upfront membership fee that costs $12. Then, you can start availing the $50 monthly subscription (there is also a $30 subscription option) for 2.5 grams of gold.

For example, if the total price of the 2.5 grams is $100, then you will need to pay $50 per month for 2 months. (But this is just a hypothetical example - 2.5 grams of gold does not really cost $100.)

This is quite different from a traditional gold IRA firm that charges no management fees and simply sells you metals, then assists in setting up your own gold IRA.

Acre Gold Referral Program

Acre Gold also has an referral program wherein you will have a chance to be compensated once you bring a client to Acre Gold and they subscribe (if you are into that sort of thing).

Sadly, Acre Gold does not have a live chat function on their website. However, clients can address their concerns to Acre Gold via their Facebook and Instagram accounts.

As you can see below, they seem quite responsive to their clients on these social media platforms.

This is helpful for those who would like automatic ongoing investment in precious metals that they store themselves outside of an IRA.

However, for gold and silver investors who would like the benefits of an IRA and a closer advocate through the lifetime of their metals account, it may be advisable to go with a company such as Goldco.

A gold IRA company stays with you for the duration of your account and acts as a direct liaison on your behalf with the custodian and storage facility required by your IRA.

Rating and Reviews (Updated January 2023)

Acre Gold is quite new to the industry, so when I researched for its ratings and reviews, I only found a handful of them.

And to be honest, they were not that impressive:

2023 UPDATE:

It appears that the BBB rating for Acre Gold has improved from a "C" rating to a "B" rating. Below is a screenshot from earlier in 2022:

Here is another screenshot of their updated rating, which is still holding out at 2.68 as of October 13, 2022:

Currently, they are not BBB accredited and only have a C+ rating.

Any updates on Acre Gold BBB Profile in 2023?

As of January 25th, it looks like the Acre Gold bbb rating went down even further.

Last time we updated this review in October 2022, their overall rating was 2.68/5.

It looks like it went from the rating above to 2.52/5 as you can see in the screenshot below.

Now I really think that Acre Gold is one of our favourite and most legit companies we review on our site but unfortunately this consistent drop in ratings is a red flag.

This is definitely something you would not see with our current top pick Goldco which keeps making their clients happy and satisfied!

November 2022 UPDATE: It appears that Acre Gold still does not have any reviews on Trustpilot, even in mid-October 2022:

Acre Gold Review Updated for 2021

Why don't they have any reviews on Trustpilot in 2022?

Still No Acre Gold Trustpilot Profile in 2023?

We have reviewed over 200 precious metals companies on our blog, one common thing between legit precious metals companies is they have solid BBB and Trustpilot profiles with lots of positive ratings and reviews.

As of January 2023, Acre Gold has no Trustpilot profile, and that makes you wonder a bit to be honest.

This does NOT make this company we are reviewing a scam, but it's not as convincing for example as our top picks like Goldco and Augusta Precious Metals, which are flooded with positives reviews everywhere.

Pros and Cons

  • Provides an affordable way to buy gold
  • Has a referral program
  • Clients can cancel anytime
  • Responsive support

  • Not the most information on their website
  • There are complaints & negative reviews
  • They seem quite new to the industry
  • Still no Trustpilot reviews in 2023

Is Acre Gold legit? - Final Review

Let's conclude this review with my final verdict: Is Acre Gold legit? Yes, they are since they do provide gold whenever clients accumulate enough monthly payments.

However, since there are only a few ratings and reviews, it might not give one the warmest feeling. Yes, there are some complaints but Acre Gold seems to make sure to respond to them.

Acre Gold provides a more affordable way of acquiring gold. However, for now, I would still recommend buying precious metals the old-fashioned way to really make sure.

And if you want to take advantage of the retirement benefits of an IRA in addition to the benefits of precious metals, a more traditional gold IRA company might be advisable.

  1. I had and still have some reservations about acre gold, my 1st reservation was that I wouldn’t believe it was legit till I received my 1st gold bar, today I received my 1st bar so that skepticism was laid to rest. My 2nd concern is one that others brought up in the comments on their sight “what if it is only gold plated bars?” I plan on taking my 2.5 gram bar to a jeweler to see if they can confirm that it is solid gold and not just plated, if it is in fact solid gold then I will be 100% satisfied with my experience with acre gold and continue to do business with them.
