AngloGold Limited was established in June 1998 through the consolidation of the gold interests of the British multinational mining company, Anglo American.

By August of 1998, AngloGold was the very first South African company that was listed in the New York Stock Exchange.

In 2004, the company that is known now as AngloGold Ashanti was the product of the partnership between AngloGold Limited and Ashanti Goldfields Company Limited.

Currently, it is still an independent gold producer that has no dominant investor and diverse shareholders, including the largest financial institutions and companies around the world.

AngloGold Ashanti Review ESG

How does it work?

All of the company's activities are summarized through an overview of its asset portfolios. In December 2018, AngloGold Ashanti's portfolio already consisted of 14 operations in 9 nations, across 4 continents.

The company oversees these operations which cover relatively low-cost and long-life assets, having various orebody types.

These are all attributed to the operations because of the fact that they are located in major gold-producing regions in the world.

The company's assets were supported by three key greenfields, Quebradona, La Colosa and Gramalote. Moreover, they are situated in a tenth country and are mainly focused on the predetermined global exploration program.

In an effort to make the operations simpler, AngloGold Ashanti split them up into regions: Australasia, Americas, South Africa and Continental Africa.

In other words, the company manages its assets that support the exploration and mining of silver, uranium oxide and of course, gold.
