ASI precious Metals Direct review – Are they for real? (2020)

June 16, 2020

In these uncertain times, it's no secret that precious metals are a great store of value. For thousands of years, people have always turned to precious metals like gold and silver during times of economic turmoil and even war. Perhaps while on your search for how to get into precious metals, you came across a company by the name of Asset Strategies International, ASI Precious Metals Direct or ASIPM Direct. They should not be confused with a similiarly named but completely different company, known as Precious Metals Direct.

So who is Asset Strategies International Precious Metals Direct? How long have they been around? Are they trustworthy? How great is their support? Should you consider working with them?

Before begnning, it should be said that you are strongly encouraged to do your own research before you choose anyone to work with. Stay aware and do your own due diligence. You need to stay on top of the ball. After all, this is the internet.

With that said, let's take a dive in and find out once and for all if they are a great fit!

Name: Asset Strategies International Precious Metals Direct

Category: Precious metals

Website: asipmdirect.com

Price: depends

According to their listing on BBB.com they are not accredited. They also appear to have a rating of two stars out of five based on one review. That said, in spite of a two star rating, there does not appear to be any "complaints" listed by the BBB. Since there does not appear to be more reviews listed by the BBB, you should probably take that one review with a grain of salt. In the spirit of full disclosure though, here is a blurb from that two star review, which was submitted by "Jack":

"Burn your money for better satisfaction. "AFTER" my payment cleared it took 21 days to receive my silver order. Then got three Canadian quarters. No one said anything about Canadian. As you may know they weigh less than US silver quarters." - Jack

At any rate, here is a quote from the "about" section of their website:

"Asset Strategies International, a Rockville Maryland company, founded in 1982, is an innovator in alternative asset ownership, including precious metals, foreign currencies, global asset protection, and the Rare Tangible Assets strategy (rare coins and rare stamps). ASI's mission that you "Keep What's Yours" is accomplished through carefully designed wealth strategies accessible to all."

Products offered:

From the look of their site, it looks like they offer a number of products, including gold bars, gold coins, silver bars, silver coins, 90% silver coins, palladium bars, and last but not least, platinum bars.

They also seem to offer storage services in five different countries, which might appeal to those who are looking to diversify from a geographic perspective. At the moment, they offer storage options in New York, Salt Lake City, Zurich (Switzerland), Singapore, Sydney, and London. (That said, they are hardly the only company to provide a service like this though, so don't feel like you only have one option if this is route you decide you would like to take. Always do your own homework and compare options.)

Here are some Pros and Cons:

First, the pros:

Well for one, they offer a wide variety of products, from gold bars to silver coins to palladium bars and almost everything in between.

They also seem to have a well-built and easy to navigate website, as well as a clearly listed phone number that you can call if you have any questions to run past them. Having the ability to have your metals stored in multiple locations like Zurich and Singapore probably doesn't hurt either.

On the other hand, the cons:

First and foremost, that two start that was left by Jack on their BBB page seems a like it could be a bit a red flag. Waiting twenty one days to receive your delivery could be a deal breaker for some. If you are running on a tight schedule and do not want to risk waiting three weeks to get your delivery, you might want to look elsewhere, if you believe that the review written by "Jack" is accurate. It was left in 2018, so their delivery times might be way faster. It is hard to say due to the lack of other reviews.

Is it a scam?

It would be quite hard to say for certain whether ASI is clearly a scam or not. They seem to have an easy to use website and clearly listed phone number. It's just that the review left by "Jack" does not give you the most comfort, especially if you have a time-sensitive order in mind.

Asset Strategies International Precious Metals Direct seems like a legit company, but, as always, you should do your own homework. It is important to do your own due diligence before making any decisions on who you should work with.

Are there better options?

If you are on the lookout to diversify or just re-up your stack, Goldco might be a great choice for you. Their “bread and butter” is gold and silver. They know how to “walk the talk and talk the talk” when it comes to precious metals and really are no nonsense people. Who doesn’t like that, right?

Goldco (also known as Goldco Precious Metals) is a trusted and experienced full-service precious metals firm. They specialize in taking care of gold and silver IRAs.

Final Words

No precious metals company is perfect. Each one can offer a different approach. One might be a better fit for you than another. They might do the same thing, just a little differently. It might just be a matter of which one fits you better. Everyone is different. There is no "one size fits all" answer for everyone. Each situation is different and should be treated as such. That said, Goldco seems to be a great choice. You can check out a detailed review of them by going over here: goldco review.
